Athgarvan 4-9 Robertstown 3-11

Our seniors came from 6 points down with 5 minutes remaining to win by 1 in the Junior Football Championship in Hawkfield today.

We were in control of the game 20 minutes into the second half when disaster struck. 2 soft goals in the space of a minute looked to have put Robertstown in the driving seat but a penalty by Cian Butler, following great work from Olan O’Mahony, and a second from David O’Sullivan drew us level before Alan Sourke scored the winning point.

First half goals from Jordan Nolan Mullally and Cian Butler (penalty) gave us a 2 point lead at the interval but all the drama was in the last 5 minutes as Athgarvan held on for a memorable victory.
