Athgarvan u12s girls got to play their first ever match today vs Rathangan.

The match was played at a high intensity from the start with both teams battling hard.

Rathangan had the larger share of the attacking play especially in the 1st half as the Athgarvan team got to grips with match tactics.

Several hand passing combination moves showcased Athgarvan's skills and drew plenty of "oohs" and "ahhhs" from the crowd.

Rathangan's experience of playing competitive football was clear as they produced some brilliant scores both over and under the bar despite our goalkeepers' best efforts.

Athgarvan's defense produced some great blocks today with several brave challenges throughout the game. All the girls ran their socks off today ahead of a challenging league campaign. Great to see each player grow in confidence as the game progressed with the Athgarvan forwards putting severe pressure on the Rathangan backs.
